Yasin Kalafatoğlu was born in the Güneysu district of Rize on August 17, 1978. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Department of Engineering in 2000.
He continued his education in the USA and completed his MBA at the University of California, Fullerton in 2002.

He completed his undergraduate, graduate and integrated doctorate programs in political science at Northwest University and received the title of associate professor.

After graduating from university, he started his career at ENKA.
He worked as an expert staff member at Grant Thornton Independent Auditing Company until 2005.

He later worked in the steel industry in San Francisco, where he was a supervisor on a 128,000 DWT project for SHELL.
During this period, he worked at SPP Ship Building LLC shipyard in South Korea for 4 years.

Following the global maritime crisis in 2008, his contract with the company he worked for was terminated.

He started working as the General Manager of Turkish Airlines Frankfurt in 2008 and served in this position until 2015.
He later returned to Grant Thornton, where he worked as a director in financial analysis and auditing.

In 2020, he worked as a manager at Avenue Foreign Trade LLC Company.

• By managing the import of paper raw materials from Russia, it made sales worldwide and reached an annual turnover of $350 million.

• In order to grow in foreign trade, it purchased 5 Promax 50,000 DWT ships.

In 2021, he started to work as a manager in different sectors:

• Norwegian Commissioner for the Foreign Economic Council

• Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic States, Chairman of the Trade Commission

• Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors (YKBV) in a leading cargo company

Following the separation of Avenue Dış Ticaret from Doğuş Group:

• It started online sales operations in Türkiye.

• He led as CEO, opening 2 stores in Moscow and 1 store in Amsterdam.

• Yasin Kalafatoğlu is also actively involved in the academic field:

• He teaches as the Head of the Political Science Department at Üsküdar University.

• He has academic studies in the fields of political science, economics and international trade.

• He speaks English very well.

• He has pursued a successful career in both business and academia.
